Richard Pearse fly. This is one of the videos we watched: There are severeal interviews recorded of people who saw Richard Pearse fly and they all link the flights to early 1903 by such things as 'the big snow', 'April Fool's Day in that year and other such folk memories. Our students are real Pearse fans and believe he flew, even though it was not controlled flight!
